We helped our client communicate its mission to create sustainable economic resilience for the Gitxsan people.
6,000 members strong, the Gitxsan First Nation is situated in the Skeena Watershed of northwestern British Columbia, covering 35,016 square kilometers of land. The region, while breathtakingly beautiful, suffers from a scarcity of employment opportunities for local youth (at times spiking to 90% unemployment). The business development arm of the Gitxsan First Nation engaged us to develop a new website to foster awareness of its homegrown employment program that leverages outside business interests while providing regional training and career opportunities within the community.
The objective was to develop a scalable website with a content management dashboard that could be easily used by the client’s in-house resources. Using abundant indigenous east coast iconography as the creative foundation, we custom-developed a website in Laravel – a framework known for fast, resource-light page loads, seamless integration with third-party modules, and intuitive CMS editing tools. We provided post-launch training to the client’s communications team and helped migrate the site to a local hosting provider. The client has managed this Gitxsan Business since launch.
